Data Center Security Intern (AWS ECT '23)

Interns for this role will be expected to report one of our data center locations in Ohio, Oregon, and Virginia Area . This is not a remote position. We have opportunities open in other locations as well; by applying to this role, we will consider you primarily for this location.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Security Specialist Intern to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.

As a Data Center Security Specialist Intern, you will be tasked with driving operational security excellence within our Data Centers. Your constant vigilance will discover physical security gaps and shortcomings, which you will drive to fix. You will interface and direct vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, daily security operations and patrols, and planning. You will extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at hard data. You will make suggestions on improving electronic surveillance and access controls. You will direct efforts to educate data center occupants on false alarm reductions. You will write and implement security process and procedures. Your position will require you to write reports, create presentations and communicate with management on the status of physical security operations.

Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks, in Summer 2023. This position requires the intern to report to work onsite on a daily basis. Intern schedules are typically day schedules, Monday-Friday. A full time position could involve day, evening, or weekend shifts and on-call rotations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Actively enrolled in a College/University pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice or relevant field with an expected graduation between December 2023 and Summer 2024.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Actively enrolled in an Associate’s Degree within Criminology/Criminal Justice or relevant field with an expected graduation between December 2023 and Summer 2024.
  • Knowledge of access control and video surveillance software applications (eg. LENEL or C-cure).
  • Interest in investigating accidents, thefts, disturbances, and discrepancies.
  • Desire to work in a facility observing security gaps in physical barriers, security officers procedure, policies, surveillance equipment, and alarm points.
  • Ability to drive campaigns to reduce nuisance alarms.
  • Knowledge of workflow ticketing, that includes extraction of performance metrics.
  • Ability to write detailed reports.
