Gap-Year Position – Dermatology & Mohs Surgery Practice
About the Role
We are a growing, patient-focused dermatology and Mohs surgery practice in Framingham, MA, seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Gap-Year applicant who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting. In this full-time role, you’ll work closely with the physician as both a chaperone and scribe during visits and procedures, and play a key part in ensuring patients feel comfortable, informed, and well cared for.
This is a full-time position. The candidate must be able to commit to at least 12 full months to this position. We are looking for an immediate hire.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be a core member of our team, performing both clinical tasks to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional patient experiences.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Act as a chaperone during exams and procedures to support patient comfort and safety
- Serve as a scribe, documenting visits accurately in the Epic EMR
- Room patients and record vital signs and medical histories precisely and efficiently
- Assist with procedures including:
- Biopsies, excisions, Mohs surgery
- Suture removals, wound checks, and bandage changes
- Anesthetize treatment areas and draw up medications under supervision
- Maintain clean, fully stocked exam rooms and prepare procedure trays using sterile technique
- Label, document, and deliver lab specimens
- Maintain lab, autoclave instruments, maintain medications
Administrative & Communication Duties:
- Clearly explain practice policies and medical procedures to patients
- Follow all clinical and administrative protocols as directed by the practice
- Respond to patient phone calls and portal messages
- Process prescription refills, prior authorizations, and pharmacy communications
- Perform pre-op phone screenings and coordinate surgical pre-certifications
- Support scheduling of follow-up visits and procedures
- Provide cost estimates for cosmetic and self-pay service.

· Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented
· Strong in both verbal and written communication
· Tech-savvy with experience using EMR systems (Epic preferred)
· Welcomes constructive feedback and actively works to enhance skills and performance
Qualifications
- Gap-year students must be able to commit to at least 12 full months of employment
- Current CPR certification (or willingness to complete upon hire)
- Experience with Epic EMR is a plus
- Must be proficient with computers and medical office systems
- Must have completed entrance exams such as the MCAT prior to starting
- 3 references will need to be provided

Schedule
- Full-time: Monday to Friday
