National-Maternal and Infant Health Nurse

Key Responsibilities: 

As a Maternal and Infant Nurse in the Navy, you’ll be integral to the health and safety of mothers and babies in various settings, from Navy hospitals to field deployments. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Comprehensive Care: Provide prenatal, labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Obstetricians, Pediatricians, and other specialists to ensure optimal care.
  • Leadership: Mentor Hospital Corpsmen to maintain the highest standard of patient care.
  • Global Missions: Participate in humanitarian efforts, providing prenatal care and support during international deployments or disaster relief operations.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage cutting-edge tools like Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to enhance patient care.
  • Patient Education: Educate families on maternal health, well-being, and infant care practices.

Financial and Educational Benefits: 

  • Sign-On Bonus Available: Sign on bonus available for up to $30k or $50k depending on desired service obligation.
  • Educational Assistance: Loan repayment up to $50,000 for graduate students in Maternal and Infant Nursing specialties serving part-time in the Navy Reserve.

 Key Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program (ACEN or CCNE).
  • Licensure: Currently licensed and practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the U.S. (new graduates must obtain licensure within one year of beginning active-duty service).
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
  • Physical Fitness: Must meet Navy physical fitness and medical examination requirements.
  • Commitment: Willingness to serve a minimum of three years on Active Duty.
  • Must prove either one-year full time work experience 
    or two years part-time work experience in direct patient care.
