Resident Assistant
Position Type: Federal Work Study And Non Work Study
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Appointments are made for one academic year. The academic year is defined as Fall Semester 2025 and Winter Semester 2026.
- RAs must be available prior to, during, and following Hall Openings and Closings to complete check-in and check-out administrative tasks. The RA must also be available during holiday breaks to be on duty. Commitments outside of academics and the RA position are to not exceed 20 hours.
- RA’s principal non-academic commitment is their position. Additionally, extracurricular activities are not to conflict with the time needed to be available and accessible to residents.
- The weekly time commitment is an average of 20 hours, including a significant amount of time spent developing community on your floor The position may require additional hours during peak periods.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have sophomore standing prior to active employment.
- Applicant must be in good academic and judicial standing with the university.
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the beginning of active employment and must maintain it throughout employment period.
- A semester GPA of 2.0-2.49 will result in academic probation.
- A GPA lower than 2.0 will result in a temporary or permanent dismissal from the position until academic improvement is made.
- Applicant must be a full-time student at the University of Detroit Mercy.
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the US.
