Graduate Assistant, CCPD
Position Type: Federal Work Study or Non-Work Study
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- The Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) Graduate Assistant participates as a full-fledged member of the CCPD team with direct student, employer, faculty and staff interaction.
- This position will provide one-on-one career advising, oversee drop-in career advising hours, provide workshops and presentations, act as team leader for student staff and assist in employer recruitment activities.
- Duration is August through May.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Passion for helping students/alumni succeed, with demonstrated willingness to learn more
- about employment strategies and techniques.
- Basic knowledge of the career development model.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to convey respect, caring and professionalism to all Detroit Mercy students, alumni, staff
- and employer partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptable with a team-oriented mentality.
- Willingness to take initiative, participate in staff meetings, contribute ideas and insights, and
- give and receive constructive feedback.
- Experience with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, the Internet and current technology
- and social media platforms.
- Some work experience outside of higher education is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Education Requirements: BA/BS required & acceptance to a graduate program within the Psychology.
- Counseling departments at University of Detroit Mercy.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Monday - Friday; 4 hours per day.
