Project Designer 1 (Entry-Level)

Aquinas Engineering is seeking a qualified Project Designer 1 to contribute to our team. As a Project Designer 1, you will collaborate with other engineers and designers, ensuring that projects meet safety standards, building codes, budgets, and timelines and report to the Project Manager. Your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing project goals and performing structural calculations.
• Designing structural elements using software like AutoCAD, Mathcad, Cbeam or RISA 3D.
• Design different building envelope systems such as glazing, metal panels, stone panels, structural glass etc.
• Overseeing project management, tracking budgets, and maintaining a project database.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET-accredited program in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field is required.
• Have taken and passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam. A professional engineering license in the state of Arizona is preferred. Ideal candidate required to be on track for the PE license within a reasonable amount of time.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 0- 1 year of relevant experience in structural design of building envelope systems.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Mathcad, RISA, etc.) and proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
  • Experience working on commercial projects (manufacturing plants, high rise buildings, etc.).
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong technical background in structural design.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and methodologies.
  • Proven drafting skills.
• Soft Skills:
  • Collaborative spirit and experience working in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal and external clients.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address on-site issues and keep projects on track.
  • Humble enough to ask for help and take recommendations. Teachable person.
