Assistant Youth Director

Job Posting: Assistant Youth Director

Position Overview:  The Assistant Youth Director will support the Director of Arts-Based Youth Ministry to provide enriching programming that engages our youth in creative and social justice activities that help our youth (ages 5-18) explore and live out their faith and values.

Our youth programming includes:

  • Sunday morning “Faith Workshop,” in which the Assistant Youth Director would primarily be assisting the Director with the Sunday school-like activities
  • Wednesday evening older youth (middle and high school) programming. Historically, this been 45 minutes of youth group and 45 minutes of music/arts; the middle school youth are in one activity while the high school group is in the other, and then they flip.  Our hope is that the Assistant Youth Director would be leading either youth group or an arts activity while the Director leads the other activity.
  • Other fellowship events, service activities, and youth engagement with other church activities throughout the year

Although this is an assistant role, we would be excited for a candidate who brings ideas, arts-based gifts (ex. music), and initiative to lead aspects of programming. And, of course, a sense of humor is always helpful with youth!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials needed for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programming and activities
  • Facilitate group activities during the Wednesday evening programming (youth group or arts-based activity)
  • Assist with classroom management
  • Assist with program development, incorporating any arts-based skills you bring and/or ideas for community service or social justice activities
  • Work with Director of Arts-Based Youth Ministry, the Faith Exploration ministry (committee), and other volunteers and families to plan and coordinate programming
  • Assist with tasks such as calendar planning, meeting scheduling, and communication materials such as emails, fliers, and newsletters.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with and passion for working with children and teens
  • Experience incorporating creative arts (such as music, visual arts, drama, or other mediums) into teaching preferred
  • Experience incorporating community engagement or social justice programming preferred

Position Details:

  • Status: 8-10 hours per week (primarily Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings.  Please note that this position includes occasional required events outside of these hours.)
  • Compensation: $8,000 per year ($20-25/hr based on 40 weeks (no summers)
  • Location: Sudbury, MA (with some remote flexibility for planning and coordination)
  • Start Date: September 1, 2025
  • Please send a cover letter and resume to Rev. Tom O’Brien at pastor@MCCsudbury.org
