Esports Lead, Recreation
Position Type: Federal Work Study Only
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Esports Lead is responsible for supporting the planning, promotion, and coordination of Detroit Mercy’s Esports programs and events. This includes assisting with Esports Lounge operations, game setup, open gaming nights, tournaments, and club team engagement. The Esports Lead will work under the Assistant Director of University Recreation and collaborate with student club officers to strengthen the overall Esports presence on campus. This position provides a great opportunity to develop leadership, event management, and digital engagement skills while helping grow a developing program at the university.
Include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the operations of the Esports Lounge, including equipment setup, cleanliness, and organization.
- Assist with planning and promoting open gaming nights, tournaments, and Esports events.
- Coordinate with governing body and competitive league to ensure policies and guidelines are followed.
- Support the Esports Club by coordinating schedules, practices, and student interest meetings.
- Manage and create digital content for the Esports Instagram account and related marketing materials. (Discord, Groupme, etc).
- Assist in maintaining Xbox consoles, games, and other things (controllers, headsets, etc.).
- Track participant attendance and engagement at Esports programs.
- Support Esports event setups during large campus events like NYRS and De-Stress Fest.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Interest and familiarity with Esports, gaming culture, and collegiate competition.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Xbox or PC gaming preferred.
- Creative mindset for social media, promotion, and community engagement.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Willingness to assist with events during evenings or weekends.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for gaming equipment or software.
