Under close supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Intern will gain hands-on learning experience working in a fast-paced human resources office. This internship offers practical and insightful experience aligned with the intern’s field of study while supporting our mission to Protect public health and the environment. The position assists with multiple human resources functions and projects.

 

Duties

  • Assist in drafting project charters and tracking milestones for departmental goals that fall outside of daily operations.
  • Help develop and update content for internal resources. 
  • Research modern HR topics and summarize trends to support long-term departmental goals.
  • Assist in auditing HR data for accuracy and help create visualizations (charts/dashboards) that illustrate key HR metrics.
  • Assist in organizing and reviewing files (electronic or physical).
  • Ensure all required labor law posters and required documentation are up to date.
  • Provide logistical support for HR-led meetings, including drafting agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Assist in other HR operations as needed or requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information and data.

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Currently enrolled and seeking a degree with a major/minor in human resources.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including word, excel, and outlook.
  • Experience demonstrating that you can handle sensitive employee information (salaries, health info, etc.) with absolute discretion and confidentiality.
