Direct Support Professional
Job Summary:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs. The DSP assists individuals in building independence at home and in the community while ensuring services are delivered according to the Individualized Service Plan (ISP).
Key Responsibilities:
Follow and implement the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) as written
Assist and teach individuals daily living skills within the home, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and household organization
Support individuals in developing independence and completing tasks with appropriate guidance
Provide community-based support, including understanding community norms, social expectations, and appropriate behaviors
Assist individuals with community integration, social engagement, and skill-building activities
Document services provided and progress toward goals accurately and timely
Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, or overall well-being
Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Experience with special needs or in human services, or related field preferred
Valid driver’s license (if transportation is required)
Ability to pass required background checks
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
