Summer Camp Counselor

PREREQUISITES: 17 years of age and up MANDATORY participation in all orientations prior to camp and staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED BACKGROUND:

1. Experience and/or desire and commitment to working with children 

2. Ability to effectively communicate with children and adults and to work as a team member 

3. Ability to assist in teaching / leading activities 

4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to accept supervision and guidance

5. A strong work ethic and a desire to help others and make a difference in someone’s life.

6. Enthusiasm, a sense of humor, patience and self-control. 

7. Good character, integrity, and adaptability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist in the direction, supervision and organization of campers within activities and throughout the camp.

2. Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. The Counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth.

3. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.

4. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior
