Transition and Employment Coach (Summer)
Transition & Employment (T&E) Summer Staff:
Part-Time, temporary summer position (up to 25 hours per week) in busy, non-profit, disability services agency. BA/BS in social work, rehabilitation, or related field and at least two (2) years of experience in disability support services preferred. Work in innovative programs to assist young adults with disabilities in transition and/or in preparing for, gaining, and maintaining employment. Assist in cultivating partnerships, assessing vocational interests and abilities, teaching employability skills and independent living skills to participants. Highly organized individual with commitment to consumer control and empowerment sought. Must have independent means of transportation. Must be willing to work flexible hours, as hours of work are based on consumer, team, and program needs. The candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., moving safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces for extended periods of time, pushing or pulling, reaching, stooping, crouching, kneeling, responding quickly to sounds, seeing and responding to situations, working in environments with varying factors (indoor/outdoor, temperature, access, etc.). Qualifications
- Education:
Preferred: BA/BS in Social Work, Rehabilitation, Education, Psychology, or related field.
Acceptable: College course work and/or experience in services for persons with disabilities.
- Experience:
Preferred: More than two years of experience in service provision for persons with disabilities – especially vocational services, strong working knowledge of community resources for persons with disabilities and employers/businesses.

- Personal:
Highly Desirable: Personal life experience with disability and/or familiarity with the history of the Independent Living Movement. Bilingual.
Essential: Clearly demonstrated adherence to the philosophy, best practices, and language usage that support consumer empowerment and self-determination. Articulate with strong written and verbal communication and writing skills. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Relates to persons in a way that promotes self-determination. Knowledge of CIL core services and collegiate/employment options for persons with disabilities. Knowledge of computers, word processing and email required.

- Essential Job Functions
T&E Specific:
- Work with young adults/students with disabilities in a group or individually in a business or community setting during summer programming.
- Provide education and coaching in employability skills, social skills, technical skills, independent living, vocational services, and post-secondary education to consumers.
- Work with consumers to develop work resumes, references and other information/materials needed for employment.
- Assure necessary communication with consumers and all required stakeholders.
- Conduct and participate in consumer meetings with stakeholders.
- Prepare required on-time documentation and reports for all activities performed for consumers.
- Complete all related reporting and billing activities.
- Obtain and maintain required clearances and certifications.
- Meet billing requirements as required for position.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to meet all consumer and programmatic needs.
- Function as a part of the Transition and Employment team and attend related meetings.
- Maintain a detailed daily schedule in Outlook. Communicate schedule changes to supervisor and always assure consumer continuity of services.
- Record time in CILSuite daily and provide time sheets every other week as scheduled.
LVCIL Team Support
- Serve as a member of full LVCIL Team – attend required meetings.
- Provide back up to consumers with respect to absence of other team members as requested, always ensure provision of quality services.
- Assist in smooth agency operations; assist as needed with special events.
General
- Responsible for other duties as specified by the T&E leadership team, Assistant Executive Director, or Executive Director.
- Accept responsibility as directed for other miscellaneous agency needs.
- Off-site travel as needed via independent, readily available means of transportation, with proof of valid driver’s license, insurance and registration provided at least annually.
- Accountability
The T&E Coach is responsible to and will be evaluated by the T&E leadership team, or, in their absence, the Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director.
