Research Assistant, Optometry
Position Type: Federal Work Study And Non Work Study
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Summer Research Student will participate in the School of Optometry Summer Research Program. Students will work under the supervision of faculty mentors to gain hands-on experience in vision science and optometric research. The program is designed to provide undergraduate students with exposure to the research process, including study design, data collection, analysis, and scientific communication.
Responsibilities
- Assist faculty mentors with ongoing research projects in vision science and optometry.
- Support data collection, data entry, and basic data analysis.
- Assist with literature reviews and preparation of research materials.
- Participate in laboratory activities and research meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of research activities and hours worked.
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations or summaries of research findings when applicable.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Acceptance into the summer Research Program.
- Interest in optometry, vision science, biomedical sciences, or related fields.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and other student researchers.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn research methods.
Anticipated Schedule:
- 15 to 20 hours a week
