Summary: Ashley Furniture is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Upholstery Products team. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, designing and developing mechanical and electrical devices and systems that bring comfort and quality to homes across the country. You'll work with cutting-edge CAD software and collaborate with cross-functional teams to take products from concept through manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Develop: Research, design, and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, and systems using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo) to meet precise specifications
- Test & Validate: Perform engineering analyses and conduct tests to ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards
- Collaborate: Partner with manufacturing, R&D, and product design teams to create practical, cost-effective solutions
- Problem-Solve: Investigate mechanical failures, identify root causes, and recommend innovative solutions
- Manage Projects: Lead product development from concept through manufacturing, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget
- Support Manufacturing: Provide technical expertise during prototyping, installation, and commissioning phases
- Drive Improvement: Analyze data and drive continuous improvement in quality assurance and production processes
- Document: Maintain comprehensive project documentation including technical drawings, reports, and manuals
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
- Knowledge of project management principles and documentation best practices
Work Environment:
This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
