Graduate Resident Director

Position Type: Federal Work Study And Non work Study

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


 

  • Directly oversee the hiring, training, supervision, development, and evaluation of 2-5 undergraduate Resident Advisors.
  • Oversee scheduling and daily operations of the Shiple Desk Attendants, with help from the Associate Director, as needed.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of residence hall management including but not limited to student conduct, maintenance and facility concerns, and roommate conflicts and mediations.
  • Assist with professional and student staff training and development.
  • Attend weekly departmental meetings, 1:1 meetings with Associate Director, and monthly in-services.
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with each Resident Advisor and weekly staff meetings pertaining to Holden Hall.
  • Maintain a presence to support community development in the residence halls.
  • Work on the departmental marketing efforts including program planning, advertising, content creation for bulletin boards and social media as needed.
  • Assist with the development of living-learning communities within the residence halls.
  • Assist in the management of the proxy card system for the residence halls.
  • Serve in on-campus professional staff duty rotation, which will include weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participate in Student Leader Recruitment and professional staff recruitment as needed.
  • Participate in all departmental functions including but not limited to move in, building openings, building closings, health and safety checks, and housing selection.
  • Serve as a conduct hearing officer and adjudicate actions that allegedly violate the Student Code of Conduct or Residence Life’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with the Symplicity housing management system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Conferred bachelor's degree by September of the year of employment. 
  • Enrolled in a master’s degree program during the duration of employment. 
  • Available 15-25 hours per week during traditional office hours. 
  • Commitment to the UDM mission and values. 
  • Commitment to student-initiated programming and student empowerment. 
  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment with ability to work well with others. 
  • Demonstrate creativity, initiative, and ability to effect change. 
  • Ability to frequently work evenings and weekends. 
  • Prefer prior Residence Life experience. 
  • Must be willing to live on campus in a staff apartment.

 

Terms of Employment & Renumeration: 
 

The assistantship is 15-25 hour/week paid out at $15/hour and provides on-campus housing and a meal plan. The assistantship is guaranteed for one academic year and can be renewed through the completion of the degree-seeking program. Failure to be enrolled in graduate level courses or of the completion of the responsibilities and/or requirements of this job may result in early termination or a non-renewal of the Graduate Assistant contract. Any future fees accumulated after the contract expires or is terminated will be the responsibility of the student to pay


 

  Anticipated Schedule: 

  • 4 hours per week.
