About the role:
Boulder Medical Center Orthopedic department is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic/podiatry team. This position is specifically designed for a high-achieving individual who has recently earned (or is about to earn) a degree in Integrative Physiology, Biology, Kinesiology, or a related field.
You will work directly alongside our orthopedic and podiatric surgeons and PAs, gaining high-volume clinical experience that is essential for future applications to PA, Medical or Physical Therapy programs.
Key Clinical Responsibilities:
Patient flow & diagnostics: Room patients, collect medical histories, and prepare them for orthopedic examinations.
Ortho and Podiatry specialties: Assist with casting, splinting, and bracing. Learn to perform staple and suture removals and assist with in-office procedures.
Imaging & Documentation: Coordinate X-ray orders and maintain records in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Patient Education: Instruct patients on post-operative care, exercise protocols, and the use of assistive devices (crutches, boots, etc).
Surgical Coordination: Help facilitate the patient surgical experience by triaging patient calls and assisting with surgical scheduling.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a science or health-related field (completed by June 2026).
Experience: Prior experience in a clinical or volunteer healthcare setting is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
