Golf Equipment Mechanic
Summary of Duties:
General Under general supervision, the Golf Equipment.
Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all golf course equipment and/or grounds maintenance equipment is maintained, repaired and operational at all times, and for operating specialized equipment in the maintenance shop and on the course or park property.

• Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs all golf course and grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, and high usage equipment (reel and tee mowers, riding mowers, tractors, etc.).
• Develops and directs the operation of the preventative maintenance program for all golf course and grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles. • Maintains and prioritizes daily work orders.
• Uses specialized computer software to record and track equipment and supply inventories, and maintenance records.
• Conducts purchasing, receiving, vehicle record maintenance, departmental billing, inventory control, and safety checklists for equipment.
• Advises the Golf Superintendent of course maintenance/owner on capital equipment purchases.
Operates specialized equipment required in the upkeep and operation of the golf course and/or park property.
• May lead the work of other golf course or park operations employees.
• Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
Marginal Duties:
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Decisions:
• The incumbent determines preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment; diagnoses malfunctions of equipment and determines appropriate resolutions; operates equipment within the guidelines of the appropriate Operator’s Manual; and determines appropriate inventory levels of parts and supplies.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of:
General understanding of golf course maintenance operations. Working knowledge of maintenance and repair of a broad variety of mechanical equipment used for golf course and park grounds maintenance. Knowledge of purchasing and inventory calculations and control.
Skills and Abilities:
Communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; operating maintenance equipment; inventory control; and basic safety standards.
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of golf course and park grounds maintenance equipment. Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Class C Driver’s license for golf course. ASE certified is not required, but preferred.
