Social Media Assistant CCPD

Position Type: Federal Work Study Only

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The Writing Center is seeking a creative student employee to serve as a marketing and social media outreach specialist. This position is ideal for students interested in communications, marketing, or related fields who would like hands-on experience in content creation and campus engagement.

The marketing and social media outreach specialist helps increase campus awareness of Writing Center services by creating media content and promoting the Center at in-person outreach events.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative online content to promote Writing Center services, staff, and events
  • Record, host, and appear in short promotional videos introducing Writing Center resources and student support services
  • Design flyers and social media posts
  • Assist the Content & Outreach Coordinator with updating and writing content for the Writing Center website
  • Support outreach efforts during campus visit days, accepted student events, orientation programs, and other special events (including monthly on Saturday mornings)
  • Represent the Writing Center in a professional, welcoming manner to students, families, and campus visitors at such events
  • Assist the Director and Content & Outreach Coordinator with other promotional projects as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable speaking on camera and engaging with audiences, clients, and coworkers
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience creating social media content.
  • Experience editing video content using CapCut, QuickTime, Camtasia, or a similar program.

Physical Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Canva and the Microsoft Suite of products.
  • Understanding of Writing Centers.
  • Experience using the Writing Center.

Anticipated Schedule:

  • 10 hours per week Mon-Fri, most be available for Saturday mornings
