Accounting Internship

Not your typical internship: real clients, real advisory, real mentorship.

Location: Hybrid/Remote (Flexible, Jacksonville, FL based) Hours: 10–20 hours/week (built around your class schedule) Compensation: $15/hour to start Firm: Future Financial Design, LLC (FFD): Clarity. Growth. Exit.

Why This Internship Is Different

Most accounting internships hand you data entry and call it "experience." This one is different. You'll be trained directly by the firm's owner, a CPA with a Master's in Forensic Accounting, inside a boutique practice where you'll actually sit in on tax planning conversations, advisory meetings, and the kind of business decisions that shape whether a company thrives or stalls.

If you're the kind of student who's already thinking past the classroom, maybe toward CPA licensure, maybe toward owning your own firm or business one day, this is built for you.

About FFD

Future Financial Design (FFD) is a boutique accounting, tax, and business advisory firm serving entrepreneurs, real estate investors, and small businesses. We go beyond compliance, helping clients build financial clarity, grow strategically, and plan for their eventual exit (whether that's a sale, a succession, or a legacy). Our work spans:

  • Tax planning & compliance for businesses and individuals
  • Bookkeeping & cloud accounting
  • Business entity selection and formation
  • Financial reporting & advisory services
  • Real estate investor tax strategy
  • Quarterly planning and estimated payments

Position Summary

We're looking for a motivated Accounting or Finance student eager to get hands-on exposure to public accounting, tax planning, bookkeeping, and client advisory: not just theory, but the real thing, with a mentor invested in your growth.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Assist with bookkeeping and monthly reconciliations in cloud-based software
  • Prepare and organize financial records for business and individual clients
  • Prepare taxes and support tax prep by organizing and reviewing client documentation
  • Assist with bookkeeping clean-up projects and financial reporting
  • Help build quarterly estimated tax calculations and planning analyses
  • Assist with new business entity setup and client onboarding
  • Maintain accurate digital workpapers and client files
  • Conduct accounting research under direct supervision
  • Sit in on client meetings and observe advisory conversations
  • Contribute ideas to improve firm workflows and client service

What You'll Walk Away With

  • Real experience in small business accounting and bookkeeping
  • Exposure to individual and business tax planning
  • Financial statement prep and general ledger reconciliation skills
  • A front-row seat to business entity formation and compliance
  • Fluency in cloud accounting technology (QBO and beyond)
  • Client communication and professional services skills
  • An insider's view of how a boutique firm, and its clients, actually run

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3.0 GPA preferred
  • Completion of Intermediate Accounting I and Individual Taxation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace

Nice to Have

  • Coursework in business taxation
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or similar software
  • Interest in tax, small business accounting, advisory, or real estate accounting
  • Aspirations toward CPA licensure, or toward running your own business someday

Why Join FFD?

  • Flexible schedule built around your classes
  • Direct mentorship from the firm's owner, not a rotating cast of staff
  • Real client-facing work, not just filing and photocopying
  • Exposure to tax planning, advisory, and bookkeeping in the same seat
  • A rare look at the entrepreneurial side of running a firm, great for future business owners, not just future CPAs
  • Potential for continued employment after graduation, based on performance

Ready to trade textbook theory for real client work? If you're an accounting or finance student who likes solving problems, working with numbers, and helping businesses grow, we'd love to hear from you.
