Social Media Assistant Center for Career & Professional Development.

Position Type: 

FEDERAL WORK STUDY ONLY 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Social Media & Marketing Develop engaging content for CCPD social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other university-approved channels.

Create graphics, flyers, digital signage, and promotional materials using Canva and other design software.

Photograph and record videos during CCPD events, workshops, employer information sessions, and career fairs.

Edit short-form videos Assist with planning and maintaining a social media content calendar.

Write engaging captions and promotional copy that aligns with the University of Detroit Mercy brand and voice.

Monitor social media trends and recommend new ideas to increase student engagement.

Assist with updating website content and digital marketing materials.

Event Promotion & Outreach Promote career fairs, employer information sessions, networking events, workshops, and other CCPD programming.

Assist with live social media coverage during major campus events.

Help prepare promotional materials including signs, flyers, event guides, and digital displays.

Represent CCPD professionally during campus outreach events, Welcome Week, student orientations, and other recruitment activities.

Capture student and employer success stories for future marketing efforts.

Office & Administrative Support Greet visitors and assist students with general career services questions.

Check students in for appointments and events. Answer phones and direct calls as needed.

Assist with preparing materials for employer and student events.

Help organize office resources and promotional materials.

Attend required student employee meetings and trainings.

Complete additional office projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Comfortable interacting with students, employers, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

Comfortable appearing in photos and short promotional videos.

Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team. Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (if any):

Creativity and strong visual storytelling skills.

Excellent written communication and proofreading abilities.

Ability to create engaging digital content for diverse student audiences.

Strong attention to detail.

Time management and organizational skills.

Willingness to learn new marketing tools and technologies.

Ability to maintain professionalism while representing the University.

Anticipated Schedule:

M-F 9:00am-5:00pm
