Transportation Engineering Intern

We are currently accepting applications from Civil Engineering Students in the St. Louis area who are looking to work full-time over the summer of 2027 to gain experience in Transportation Engineering. 

 

Experience Level:  College Level

 

Schedule:  Summer - 32-40 hours/week

 

Salary:  $19.00-$23.00/hr. – salary is commensurate with experience

 

Location:  Swansea, IL

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in the direct drafting and design of roadway, pedestrian and other transportation-related projects
  • Work could involve design of drainage systems, detailed geometrics, and traffic systems
  • Help prepare plans, specifications and estimates under direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Assist Resident Engineers with construction materials and quantities documentation, construction observation, and some on-site materials testing in the field 

 

Qualifications Desired:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s program
  • Excellence in studies and strong desire to learn
  • Ability and experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in a previous job preferred
  • Good project coordination and communication skills to work effectively with clients, contractors and the general public 
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently 
  • Strong competency in math
  • Willingness to work hard  
  • Attention to detail
