BADGER COLOR is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our Supply Chain team at our Mukwonago, Wisconsin headquarters. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in procurement, purchasing, supplier management, inventory control, and manufacturing operations. 

In this role, you will play a key part in managing the procurement of indirect goods and services that support the day-to-day operation of the business, while also assisting with direct material purchasing activities. You will work closely with suppliers, service providers, production, maintenance, operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure BADGER COLOR has the materials, supplies, equipment, and services needed to support efficient operations and continued growth.

What You'll Do

Indirect Procurement & Sourcing

  • Manage the procurement of indirect goods and services across the organization, including MRO supplies, maintenance services, office supplies, safety products, operating supplies, equipment, professional services, and other business-related purchases.
     
  • Partner with internal departments to understand purchasing needs and identify cost-effective sourcing solutions.
     
  • Source new suppliers, request quotations, compare bids, and support supplier selection decisions.
     
  • Assist with supplier negotiations involving pricing, terms, service levels, and delivery performance.
     
  • Build and maintain positive supplier relationships while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
     

Purchasing & Supply Chain Operations

  • Create and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers.
     
  • Monitor raw material requirements to support production schedules.
     
  • Expedite or reschedule materials as production demands change.
     
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding deliveries, order confirmations, pricing, and performance.
     
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to support on-time delivery of purchased materials and supplies.
     
  • Collaborate with production planning, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve supply chain challenges.
     

Data, Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and inventory information within the ERP system.
     
  • Resolve receiving, invoicing, pricing, and order discrepancies.
     
  • Support vendor setup, approvals, and purchasing system maintenance activities.
     
  • Track supplier performance metrics and support improvement initiatives.
     
  • Participate in procurement and supply chain process improvement projects.
     

Perform other related duties as assigned.
 

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, Economics, Analytics, Finance, or a related field preferred.
     
  • Internship, co-op, project work, part-time employment, or early-career experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, inventory management, or operations is a plus.
     
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
     
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
     
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
     
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
     
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
     
  • Experience with ERP, inventory management, purchasing, or business systems is beneficial but not required.
     
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
     

Self-motivated with a willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Work Environment

This position is on-site in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. 

The role operates primarily in a professional office environment but includes regular interaction with manufacturing and warehouse operations. Appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided when required. The position may occasionally require lifting or moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
