  • Compensation: $18.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
  • Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

The FSA Summer Internship is a unique, hands-on learning experience designed for students interested in finance, economic development, and service to Tribal Nations and Tribal communities. It is designed as a developmental program to build the skills, exposure, and network to launch a career serving tribal communities. Interns will rotate through multiple business lines including Advisory Group, Investment Group, Prospecta Growth Partners, and Tribal Administrative Services, gaining exposure to real projects, client work, and strategic initiatives.

GOALS & LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Gain hands-on experience in finance and business operations, specifically within organizations serving Tribal Nations.
  • Develop advanced skills in financial analysis, investment strategies, and advisory services through direct engagement with industry professionals.
  • Enhance written, analytical, and verbal communication abilities by participating in project work and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
  • Build a strong understanding of economic development and financial prosperity initiatives in Indian Country.
  • Foster teamwork, professional integrity, and confidentiality while working collaboratively on group assignments and presentations.
  • Develop proficiency in Microsoft Office applications by preparing reports, presentations, and other deliverables essential to the internship experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shadow and support teams in Advisory, Investment, Prospecta, and Tribal
  • Administrative Services
  • Assist with client correspondence, data analysis, and report preparation
  • Participate in team meetings, client calls, and project work
  • Conduct research and contribute to special projects
  • Read two required books and complete correlated book reports
  • Present project findings and recommendations to the team at the end of the internship
  • Share a brief update on current projects during weekly Monday roundtable calls
  • Complete an internship survey and provide feedback for future program improvements

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (Finance, Business, Economics, or related field preferred)
  • Junior or Senior level students (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)
  • Strong written, analytical, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in finance, economic development, and supporting Tribal Nations and Tribal communities.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Self-starter, team player, and eager to learn
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity

  1. Who is eligible to apply for the FS Advisors Summer Internship?
    Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (Finance, Business, Economics, or related field preferred) with a preferred minimum GPA of 3.2. We welcome students who are passionate about finance and making a positive impact in Indian Country.
  2. Is it required to be a tribal member to apply?
    No. Any student pursuing a finance career in Indian Country is encouraged to apply.
  3. Is housing provided?
    Yes, housing is provided if needed for interns relocating to Pensacola, FL for the duration of the internship.
  4. What kind of projects will I work on?
    Interns will rotate through multiple business lines, complete team-specific capstone projects, and close with a final presentation that connects and communicates a full financial ecosystem. There will also be required reading and book reports throughout the program.
  5. Will I receive mentorship or support during the internship?
    Yes, each intern is paired with dedicated mentors in every rotation and participates in daily or near-daily check-ins with regular feedback sessions. Interns also hold a standing weekly mentorship meeting with the program administrator covering progress, assigned reading, and open questions.
  6. Are there any requirements after selection? 
    Final acceptance into the internship program is contingent upon a successful background check and signed Non-Disclosure Agreement.
