Strength & Conditioning Intern: Golf Performance (Paid, 12 Weeks)

Strength & Conditioning Intern: Golf Performance (Paid, 12 Weeks)

Tour Physio & Performance · Easton, MA $16/hour · About 20 hours/week · Starts January 2027

Most S&C internships teach you to run a team lift. This one teaches you a specialty: golf performance, alongside physical therapists and strength and conditioning coaches, with one-on-one mentorship from both.

You'll go from observing to coaching over 12 weeks, and leave knowing things most young coaches don't: how to assess a golfer, how to coach around an injury, and how to talk to a client about the plan they need.

Who this is for

  • Exercise science, kinesiology or S&C students and recent grads who want a specialty, not just hours
  • Coaches who want to work in the private sector with adults and athletes, not only college teams
  • Anyone who played or coaches a rotational sport (baseball, hockey, tennis, lacrosse) and is curious about golf
  • Students who need internship hours for credit. We'll sign your log and complete your school's evaluations.
  • People who are coachable, professional, and comfortable talking with adult clients

You don't need to be a good golfer. You do need to care about the golf swing.

What you'll learn: your mentorship track

  • Golf assessment and its nuances: TPI screening, and how physical limitations show up in the swing
  • Speed and power: testing, force plates, and programming for clubhead speed
  • Rotational sports: training rotational power, and how it transfers across golf, baseball and more
  • Rehab and coaching modifications: how to coach an injured or returning athlete, working hand in hand with our physical therapists
  • Sales and client communication: how to explain findings, recommend a plan, and help a client decide. It's the skill that separates coaches who build a career from those who don't.
  • 1:1 mentorship: a structured curriculum with weekly one-on-one feedback and education sessions

How the 12 weeks work

  • Weeks 1 to 3, learn the system: shadow our coaches and PTs and learn our assessment process
  • Weeks 4 to 7, coach alongside: lead warm-ups, coach technique with a coach beside you, assist with assessments and speed testing
  • Weeks 8 to 12, lead with supervision: lead parts of 1:1 and group sessions, write a real client's program, and present your capstone

What you'll leave with

  • About 240 documented, supervised hours (more available if your program requires it)
  • Midterm and final evaluations, on your school's forms if needed
  • A capstone: a 12-week golf performance program built from real assessment data
  • A reference from a DPT and CSCS
  • Consideration for open coaching roles on our team

About us

Tour Physio & Performance is a golf-focused physical therapy and performance facility in Easton, MA, rated 5.0 on Google across more than 100 reviews. Your supervisor is Dr. James Ashcroft, DPT, OCS, CSCS, TPI certified at Power Level 3 and Medical Level 2, and a Springfield College grad.

Schedule

About 20 hours a week, built around your classes where possible. The internship runs 12 weeks, roughly mid-January to mid-April 2027. Recent graduates who want to start earlier, in November 2026, are welcome to ask. Includes some early mornings and evenings, when our clients train, and occasional Saturdays.

How to apply

Upload your resume, and in place of a traditional cover letter, a short document (a few sentences each) answering:

  1. What draws you to golf performance?
  2. Tell us about a time you coached someone, in any setting. What did you change, and how did they respond?
  3. Do you need this internship for academic credit? If so, how many hours does your program require? (Recent grads: tell us if you'd like to start in November instead.)
