Graduate Resident Director
Position Type: Non-Work Study
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the overall departmental functions: Including office operations, staff selection and training and development, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures, recognition, and evaluation.
- Provide leadership to an area staff in the achievement of the programmatic goals and objectives of that area with supervision of hall staff.
- Coordinate residence life programming events for the university community.
- Serve as a judicial hearing officer for Residence Life
- Represent Residence Life at university events, such as SOAR, Visit Days etc.
- Serve as a liaison to university departments.
- Monitor budgets and expenditures for programs, staff and services within assigned area.
- Organize and facilitate regularly scheduled staff meetings, individual meetings with the director, individual meetings with staff members and Residence Life meetings.
- Assist in the professional staff responsibilities of all residential openings and closings.
- Serve as on call staff for Residence Life on a rotation basis for nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Serve as coordinator and support for emergency and serious incidents. This may include escorting residential students to the hospital if needed.
- Assist in the coordination of summer conferences and support for summer school staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- Enrolled in Graduate or Doctoral Program
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A strong desire to work with college students
- Demonstrated skills in the following areas: leadership, group dynamics, flexibility, professionalism, technology, and programming in a residence hall setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Residence Life
- Experience in Crisis Response
- Experience in Student Leadership
Anticipated Schedule:
- Varies, some weekend or evening hours
Physical Requirement:
- Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds)..
