24-02739 Systems Consultant IT

The Division of Information Management has an opening for a Systems Consultant IT position. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide leadership and guidance to employees within the Business Operations Branch and Division of Information Management.

As a Systems Consultant IT for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will provide analysis, analytical support, and guidance for Department, Division and Branch staff. You will work with the Department of Revenue staff to independently analyze issues and questions to provide solutions and recommendations to Division Management.

You will also serve as a liaison between the Department and Division and Commonwealth Office of Technology and other vendors for software, hardware and professional service needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze user technical problems and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Oversee the Commonwealth of Technology's interactions with users and ensures user's needs are met.
  • Meet with users to identify technology needs and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Work with Division Staff and Management to review, correct and resolve billing issues and questions.
  • Work with Division Staff and Management to identify and resolve application and system access issues not related to initial access requests.
  • Assist the Division Director and other managers with special projects.
  • Act as a liaison between the division and other organizations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Additional / Supplemental information:

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation including an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
  • Must comply with all tax laws
  • Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone
  • Some travel for training and education.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.


EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, systems support, or computer operating systems.

 

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. A master's degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

 

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, and/or computer operations will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experience in business or public administration, statistics, research, or a related field will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office setting or in a virtual office environment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
