Community Outreach Coordinator

Empower communities and inspire hope. Coordinate outreach and marketing programs to reach underserved populations in formerly isolated communities to bring themselves out of poverty.

Our mission is to provide essential services, resources, and support to underprivileged and at-risk populations while fostering a vibrant, resilient, and self-sustaining community.  

The towns of Colorado City and Hildale have a 39.9% historical poverty rate compared to the national average of 11.2% and are currently experiencing a 900% suicide rate. The Short Creek Dream Center role is to come alongside community members to improve their lives by developing and implementing all-inclusive outreach services and raising awareness among underserved populations. 

As a Community Outreach Coordinator, you will play a vital role in expanding our organization’s reach and impact within the community.  This person will foster sustainable growth and positive change by strengthening skills, amplifying voices, and creating a network of empowered community members.

This position has optional housing (single room) and meals provided at our transitional housing facility.

 

Position goals/responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate outreach programs and initiatives that increase our visibility, volunteer engagement, and resource efforts.
  • Initiate systems for data collection and routine analysis to evaluate the community's resource needs.
  • Develop communication strategies that resonate with target population. Examples include but are not limited to social media, community events, workshops, presentations.
  • Create educational material to be distributed online and at community events specific to employment (opportunities, rights), housing (needs, loans), and financial literacy (protection against scams, budgeting tools).
  • Build relationships and collaborations with other community organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders to extend the reach of services and avoid duplication of efforts.

 

This position is a full-time, one-year commitment to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. While you will not receive a wage or salary, you will receive a bi-weekly living allowance and other benefits, including the Segal Education Award at the end of your service,

Eligibility:

  • 18 years or older
  • Successful completion of criminal background check
  • This position is sponsored through AmeriCorps and requires applicant hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses:
    • US citizen or US National
    • Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status)
    • Person legally residing within a state (Example: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status, and DACA status.)
