Senior Inspector
GMS is seeking a Senior Inspector for our New York Office. The applicant should have proven effectiveness in the inspection of structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and structural stability. Educational requirements are bachelor’s or a master’s degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering. AWS CWI is preferred. ICC and/or ACI certifications are required. ASNT certification in UT and MT is a plus. Registration as a PE or RA a plus. Strong knowledge of inspection processes and attention to detail are essential. This position is full-time and will be in-person in the office five days per week.

Roles & Responsibilities
Senior Inspector responsibilities include:
- Conduct field inspections of structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry components.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Document and report on inspection findings to project managers and engineers.
- Collaborate with senior inspectors and engineers to address project issues.
- Participate in testing and quality control procedures.
- Assist in training and supervision of inspectors as engineers conduct inspections.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited engineering program
- 3-15+ years of experience in structural engineering and inspections
Shift Availability
- Day Shift; willingness to work at night and possibly weekends
Talent/Skills
The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of construction materials, structural systems, and inspection procedures. They must be familiar with building codes and safety regulations, ensuring that all inspections meet industry standards. Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills are crucial for identifying structural issues. Effective communication is essential for reporting findings and working collaboratively with project teams. The candidate should be able to work independently on-site and manage time efficiently. Proficiency with inspection tools, testing equipment, and software for report documentation is also required.
Compensations and Benefits
- Salary range: $75,000 - $125,000 commensurate with education, experience, and performance
