Tax Accountant Associate

Overview:

Local candidates apply: Must be located within 10-50 miles of office in Miami, Florida. No relocation will be provided.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team as an Associate. The ideal candidate will have a great attitude and be a team player. The ability to understand financial statements, and ensure proper accounting treatment. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and be proficient in using accounting software.

Qualifications:

  • Must have strong technology skills and be proficient with all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge and experience with Drake, ProSeries Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS and Accounting CS, QuickBooks Online, & Gusto is a plus
  • Must have working knowledge of accounting
  • Must have working knowledge preparing tax returns and performing tax research
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to listen effectively
  • Work well under pressure; able to meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Ability to learn processes quickly and apply that knowledge to engagements
  • Team player with a desire to be an active participant within the firm
  • Client experience-minded, focused on exceeding expectations in all areas
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Masters in Accounting or Taxation (preferred)
  • CPA or EA License Preferred but not required

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare federal and state corporate, individual, nonprofit and partnership tax returns
  • Prepare other tax returns
  • Perform accounting of transactions utilizing software, spreadsheets and other tools
  • Research accounting standards and principles
  • Research tax issues and legislation and interpret tax code
  • Make projections on future tax liabilities based on variable options to make client recommendations as part of the tax planning process
  • Interact with client personnel regarding tax return information, deadlines, etc., and keep the team informed on status
  • Keep current on professional announcements and proactively participate in professional development opportunities
