Assistant, Student Accessibility Services

Position Type: Federal Work Study Or Non Work Study

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Work with the Access Specialist in Student Accessibility Services to help support students registered in Student Accessibility Services.
  • Coordinate the provision of accessible course materials, including finding, converting, and editing physical and digital texts.
  • Work with students registered with SAS to provide accommodation, e.g. alternative formats, and test proctoring.
  • Train and troubleshoot transcription software for students.
  • Proctor and support Testing Center activities.
  • Motivate and support students through positive feedback and reinforcement.
  • Serve as backup for the front desk in the Student Success Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Familiar with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Desire to work with diverse populations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and respect student confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with and desire to support persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with accessible technologies.
  • Availability on Mondays and Fridays is a plus.

Anticipated Schedule: 

  • Flexible hours 9am-5pm Monday-Friday
