Assistant, Student Accessibility Services
Position Type: Federal Work Study Or Non Work Study
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work with the Access Specialist in Student Accessibility Services to help support students registered in Student Accessibility Services.
- Coordinate the provision of accessible course materials, including finding, converting, and editing physical and digital texts.
- Work with students registered with SAS to provide accommodation, e.g. alternative formats, and test proctoring.
- Train and troubleshoot transcription software for students.
- Proctor and support Testing Center activities.
- Motivate and support students through positive feedback and reinforcement.
- Serve as backup for the front desk in the Student Success Center.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Familiar with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Desire to work with diverse populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to manage sensitive information and respect student confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with and desire to support persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with accessible technologies.
- Availability on Mondays and Fridays is a plus.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Flexible hours 9am-5pm Monday-Friday
