The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Coastal Bend Home Builders Association. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, governmental relations, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, community outreach, and legislative issues, both locally and nationally, that affect the home building industry.

Job Requirements:

1. Board Governance:

  • Responsible for leading CBHBA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission and goals as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

2. Financial Performance and Viability:

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of CBHBA, keeping accurate records of Accounts Payable and Receivables.
  • Preparation and submission of an Annual Operating Budget and Monthly financial statements, that accurately reflect the condition of the organization’s fiscal status.
  • Manages expenditures and income, to operate within the approved annual budget and ensure maximum resource utilization to maintain a positive financial position.
  • Facilitates fundraising, membership income, and other non-dues revenue sources necessary to support CBHBA’s mission.

3. Organization Mission and Strategy:

  • Works with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure that the mission and goals are fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
  • Facilitates and implements strategic planning to ensure that CBHBA can successfully fulfill its mission and goals into the future
  • Regularly review the bylaws and strategic plan to keep them current.

4. Governmental Relations:

  • Keep abreast of all issues concerning the residential construction community in the 10 counties we represent.
  • Enhance CBHBA’s image professional image by maintaining an active and visible role in the community, and working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.
  • Actively collaborate with elected officials and their staff on a local, state, and federal level to ensure the future success of the residential construction industry
  • Attend Corpus Christi City Council meetings and lobby council members on issues concerning to the construction community.
  • Attend and/or monitor all Nueces County Commission and CC Planning Commission Meetings
  • Review all Corpus Christi City Council, CC Planning Commission and County Commission Agendas upon being publicly published, reporting relevant agenda items to the Executive Board for review and action.
  • Monitor and/or attend other Coastal Bend City Council meetings or Planning Commission meetings as seen fit

5. Organization Operations:

  • Oversee and implement appropriate resources for operational success
  • Conduct the hiring, retention, and training of competent, qualified staff
  • Primary signor of all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered in to, and on behalf of, the organization as directed by the corporate resolution.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Public Relations, or other relevant field required. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Ability to convey a vision of CBHBA’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe Applications required
  • Ability to learn Association Management Software
  • Experience in Event Planning preferred

Executive Officer, Coastal Bend Home Builders Association Benefits

Salary Position, Full Time Office Hours:

  • Monday – Friday 8:30PM – 5:30PM
  • Some weekends and evenings required to fulfill job responsibilities as needed, such as fundraising events and government affairs.

Compensation:

  • $50,000 - $70,000 Base Salary, commensurate with experience
  • Monthly Expense Reimbursement, distributed on 1st monthly check
  • Up to 3% 401k Match
  • 40 hours paid Sick Leave and 80 Hours Paid Time Off, on an accrual basis. Accrual begins after the 90 day Evaluation Period is completed.
  • Annual salary review by Executive Board prior to the November Board of Directors Meeting, with all determined compensation changes effective on the first paycheck of the following calendar year.

General Responsibilities:

  • Planning and operation of annual Budget, Sponsorship Opportunities, and Event Calendar Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and the daily operation of the CBHBA
  • Serving as CBHBA’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, media, and public Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the state and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance CBHBA’s mission
  • Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the association
  • Supervise and collaborate with organization staff, councils, and committees
  • Develop and implement a Strategic Plan
  • Oversee marketing and other communication efforts
  • Review and approve contracts for services
  • Planning and Execution of Fundraising Events and Initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
