Vocational Rehabilitation Intern
Job Summary - Why you’ll love this position
Multiple internships may be available at any of our office locations.
Approximate length of internship: Fall and Spring semester; total number of hours worked shall not exceed 1,000 hours during length of internship.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Observe and complete intake appointments and document in case management system.
- Assist counselors in determining appropriate employment goals and services by providing vocational planning/career counseling.
- Assist counselors with meeting with individuals to discuss progress with their Individualized Plan for Employment and provide vocational guidance and counseling.
- Learn about serving individuals with disabilities and medical aspects of disability
- Instill hope and promote self-reliance in clients while assessing their progress towards employment.
- Observe and assist with verifying that employment outcome meets the needs of the client and offer retention support.
- Travel in and around the community and to training is required
Qualifications - All you need for success
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
- Introductory knowledge and understanding of human behavior as related to personal, social, and vocational adjustment and community resources and conditions under which services are made available to applicants.
- Strong interpersonal skills: i.e. willingness to accept training, direction, and mentoring to learn the duties and perform them independently; maintain successful relationships with other agencies, schools, co-workers, and vendors.
- Ability to be organized, prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and communicate clearly, concisely both orally and written.
Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, social work, or a related field.
Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
