Research Assistant, Optometry
Position Type: Federal Work Study Only
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dr. De Gracia’s lab is seeking motivated undergraduate students to assist with innovative research projects focused on multifocality and myopia control. This position offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge research, contributing to advancements in vision science.
Responsibilities:
- Processing and analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights for ongoing research studies. Assisting in the design and execution of experimental protocols related to multifocality and myopia control.
- Contributing to the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications. Collaborating with the research team to maintain and organize lab equipment and materials.
- Supporting the development of educational materials and outreach initiatives highlighted on the lab's website.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pre med or Pre optometry student.
- The job is open to sophomore, junior and senior students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interest in vision, ophthalmology, and/or in the optometry field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis tools or willingness to learn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires to work in a computer station.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Having taken computer science courses.
Anticipated Schedule:
- 15 to 20 hours a week
