Telephone Operator, Information Technology Systems

Position Type: Federal Work Study or Non-Work Study 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Answer incoming calls and route callers to the appropriate department or individual.
  • Provide information about the university's services, hours of operation, and address.
  • Maintain accurate records of calls and activities.

 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Clear and concise verbal communication is crucial for understanding and conveying information accurately.
  • Active Listening: Paying close attention to callers to understand their needs and respond appropriately.
  • Customer Service: Providing friendly and efficient service to ensure a positive experience for callers.
  • Problem-Solving: Quickly identifying and resolving issues that may arise during calls.
  • Patience and Empathy: Remaining calm and understanding, especially when dealing with frustrated or upset callers.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in taking messages, transferring calls, and updating information.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic phone and computer skills to handle call routing and data entry.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is 100% onsite.

Anticipated Schedule:

  • Up to 20 hours per week, weekdays between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
