Research Assistant - Chem & Biochem

Position Type: Federal Work Study And Non Work Study

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Students will conduct research in organic chemistry and redox and binding properties.
• The students will work on synthesis of organometallic complexes and organic complexes, characterize structures, and investigate redox properties for these compounds.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Students need to be enrolled in STEM majors at the College of Engineering and Science.
• They are preferred to have completed a minimum of two chemistry laboratory courses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• All training is provided during employment.

Physical Requirements

• Rare occasions of lifting up to 15 lbs. if needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• The students completed organic chemistry courses with research concentration or minor in chemistry.

Anticipated Schedule: 

• 15 - 18 hours per week.

Licenses/Certifications

• Chemical Safety certificate that will be completed upon approval as a research student.
